<p>Magic. </p><p>No, really. I'd expect most potential explanations to fall into one of three categories: </p>

1. "Wait, that doesn't actually explain anything!" (throwing around a code word like "midichlorians")
2. "Wait, that's totally unbelievable!" (like, military artificial intelligence experiment gone mad, somehow escaping into a toy factory)
3. "Wait, that's just plain stupid!" (they are ghosts trapped in plastic bodies, somehow ending up with Microsoft voices)

<p>This has been a question that even the toys have mentioned on a basis (mainly Arbiter), so at least we know Jon acknowledges the question of their existance and how they are alive. </p><p>I'd like to think he does make a reason, but truth be known there isn't really a logical explanation and Jon has tried to make the show as realistic as possible since Season 4's second half onwards, so if he does make a reason I hope it's (believable? probably not the best word, but believable that it fits with the show not actual real life) good. </p>

It is an interesting subject. But I think that explaining it would take away some aspect of the show.
