Panic is the seventh episode of the third season of Arby 'n' the Chief. And the 19th episode of the series in general.

Summary[]

With Master Chief at his side on the sofa, the Arbiter is taking refuge within Snowbound's underground cave to avoid the masses of raging rioters everywhere across Xbox Live in response to the in-game glitches causing their katana body pieces and Security shoulders to disappear. However, he is not alone; three other players are taking refuge with him, one of them obviously on the brink of insanity, but can any of them be trusted?

Plot[]

Everyone is still rioting. Arbiter asks the blue player if the area they are in is a safehouse for the sane people. He responds by saying that Charlie (the yellow player) has been talking to himself, and that he's convinced that he still has his katana, only he doesn't, and nobody has the heart to tell him. Arbiter goes to talk to Charlie. He tells him that he lost his katana and that he should just get over it. Charlie still refuses to accept it. After hearing his voice, Arbiter asks how old Charlie is, who says that he is 39. Disgusted, Arbiter chastises him for acting so immaturely for his age, and concludes that he is Chief's friend on Xbox Live that lead him to this place. Charlie finally loses it and points his magnum at Arbiter. The blue and red player then point their guns at him and start an argument.

Meanwhile, two Bungie members, one named Bill, the other unnamed, are travelling by Warthog across Avalanche, updating the community that they are working towards finding a solution to the glitch. They also ask that the community remains calm. One of the rioters throws a grenade at the car and it slams in to a wall. Bill, having not worn a seat belt, falls out of the car, dead. The rioter approaches the other member and cuts him with a Brute Shot.

Back on Snowbound, Arbiter tells everyone to calm down and stop taking the game so seriously. The red player agrees with him, saying that Charlie is being far too serious. Charlie tells him to shut up and says that he hopes the glitch doesn't affect him. However, he notices that the red player's katana has disappeared, meaning that the glitch has affected him. He quickly starts to get mad, and points his shotgun at Arbiter. However, Chief shows up at the last second and shoves him out the way. The blue player shoves Charlie out the way afterwards and they all fight. Arbiter decides to leave.

A player spawns in the game, and tells everyone to calm down, and says that Bungie has found a solution to the problem. He says that the glitch cannot affect anyone with all 49 of the original achievements. Everyone calms down immediately, and everything is back to normal again. The blue and red players go off to play double team. Charlie asks Chief if he wants to play Social Slayer, but Chief declines, saying that he has to achieve the rest of the 49 achievements. Charlie then calls Arbiter a "fucking asshole" and leaves. Arbiter goes off to get a beer, while Chief goes on to theater mode to get some screenshots of what just happened on his Myspace account.

There is a post-credits scene of Arbiter recording himself with a camera, calling out the Halo community for their potential attempt to childishly copying the events of the episode by registering their gamertag as "assassininja4827" or any variation of the name.

Trivia[]

  • This is the first episode to break the fourth wall, as seen during Arbiter's post-credits scene.
  • The post-credits scene is also another moment that expresses Jon Graham's frustration at people copying his fictional gamertags just for the sake of attention.
  • If listened to carefully, Charlie and the red and blue players can be heard babbling incoherently during their argument.
